Conciliation Services
The MRA and its subsidiary documents provide the framework for the operation of the electricity retail market. However with a competitive market dependent upon its ability to innovate and develop, it is inevitable that, at the operational level, different interpretations are possible. This sometimes results in practices by one, or more, parties that are perceived by another party to differ from the intent of the MRA and create a discord.
These situations are best addressed initially in a discreet manner and the Conciliation Service offers a way for this to be achieved. By working with the MRA parties concerned in a non-partisan way, and with an emphasis on resolving any operational misunderstandings, MRASCo Services can help the parties to reach agreement on many of these issues without the necessity of invoking the Breach or Disputes processes, which are far more formal in nature. Matters referred to the Conciliation Service are treated as highly confidential with special provisions for the protection of any information divulged within the process.
The conciliation process is set out in Guideline 20.
