Green Deal Market Participants

 

This page explains the differing Green Deal Market Participants, and what you need to do to become one.

 

Green Deal Providers

Green Deal Providers arrange Green Deal Plans, provide finance, and arrange for the installation of the agreed energy efficiency improvements.

Please Note:

When applying to be a Green Deal Provider you should apply for both Green Deal Provider (1) and Remittance Processor (2) Role Codes

Remittance Processors

A Remittance Processor collects information for Green Deal charges collected and reclaimed by the Green Deal Licensee.

Green Deal Licensees

A Green Deal Licensee is an electricity Supplier party to the GDAA whose customers are able to take up Green Deal Plans. Green Deal Licensees collect the repayments on Green Deal plans and send these to the nominated Green Deal Remittance Processor.

Large Suppliers are Mandatory Green Deal Licensees. Small Suppliers may become Voluntary Green Deal Licensees by acceding to the GDAA. All Green Deal Licensees (Electricity Suppliers) are listed in Schedule 1 of the GDAA.

Licensed Electricity Distribution Businesses

A Licensed Electricity Distribution Business is a party who holds a license to distribute electricity granted by the Authority. Distribution Businesses may need to send Data Flows to the GDCC e.g. to allow de-registration of an MPAN.

Meter Point Administration Service (MPAS) Agent

A Meter Point Administration Service (MPAS) sub-contractor or delegate appointed by a Distribution Business to provide MPAS. Green Deal plans.

What Do I Need?

Sign a GDCC Access Agreement (defined in Clause 56 and Schedule 15 of the MRA). ü ü ü ü ü
Sign the Green Deal Arrangements Agreement (GDAA); ü ü ü    
Obtain a Market Participant Identifier (MPID); ü ü ü ü ü
Obtain a Market Role Code of .. 1 2 0 R P
Obtain an Electricity Supply Licence (Ofgem)     ü    
Accede to the various industry codes and complete the MRA Assurance process;     ü
